Study suggests minimum £17m cost to reopen Grafton car park in Worthing

A new independent report suggests that the minimum work to allow Worthing’s Grafton multi-storey car park to reopen would cost well in excess of £17m.

Worthing Borough Council closed Grafton in May to carry out urgent investigation work because of concerns that its condition had visibly deteriorated suddenly.

Work starts on Montague Gardens

Work has started on the transformation of Montague Place into Montague Gardens - a new green space that will link Worthing town centre to the seafront.

Worthing Borough Council has appointed local company Edburton Contractors to undertake the work, which will be done in phases over a 12 to 15 month period to minimise disruption to businesses and residents.

Residents urged to help committee to review councils’ plans to meet environmental commitments

The work by Adur & Worthing Councils to reduce their environmental impact is to be reviewed by a panel of councillors.

Members of the councils’ Joint Overview and Scrutiny Committee (JOSC) will examine the steps that are being taken by officers to cut waste, boost recycling and meet the challenging target of being carbon neutral authorities by 2030. The councils have also signed the UK 100 pledge for the whole area of Adur and Worthing to reach net zero by 2045.
