Adur and Worthing Councils launches food waste competition

Adur & Worthing Councils is giving away hot composting bins as part of Food Waste Action Week 2024.

Residents are being asked to send in their top tips for reducing food waste at home for a chance to win one of six hot composting bins.

By heating the waste up to 60°C, hot bins can turn food waste into compost in 30 to 90 days. The councils have been given six hot bins (three large and three small) by West Sussex County Council and want to give residents the opportunity to start composting at home.

Worthing food bank works with community to tackle root causes of food insecurity

A Worthing food bank is continuing to work with the community to tackle the root causes of food insecurity after securing funding from Worthing Borough Council.

Worthing Food Foundation, which also runs Worthing Vegan Food Bank, was awarded £30,000 from the Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) Neighbourhood Fund to support its community outreach work.

£100k award accelerates pace of pioneering marine rewilding project

An ambitious collaborative project working to enable nature to take the lead across 100 miles of Sussex coastline is to be awarded £100k of funding from charity Rewilding Britain.

Sussex Bay, the organisation behind the project, has a vision for a healthy marine ecosystem for the Sussex Bay area, an extensive seascape that encompasses 100 miles of coastline from Selsey Bill to Camber Sands and is home to over 1 million residents.
