The government has launched a public consultation on local government reorganisation (LGR) for every area of Sussex.In September all local authorities in West Sussex submitted a collaborative business case for LGR to the government. As part of their submission, Adur & Worthing Councils provided additional evidence on the benefits of a two-unitary model that would combine the current Adur, Arun, Chichester and Worthing footprints.

Residents invited to share their views on Adur & Worthing Councils' new corporate strategy
Adur and Worthing residents are being invited to help shape Adur & Worthing Councils’ new corporate strategy.The Joint Overview and Scrutiny Committee (JOSC) will be scrutinising the councils’ new strategy, called Fair, Green & Local, at its next meeting and is inviting residents to ask questions about the strategy during the public question time section.

Paul Brewer confirmed as new chief executive of Adur & Worthing Councils
Since July 2025, Mr Brewer has been serving as interim chief executive of the councils, following the departure of Dr Catherine Howe to take on the same role at Dorset Council.On Thursday night, his appointment as chief executive and head of the paid service was ratified at Adur District Council’s full council meeting. Worthing Borough Council’s full council ratified the appointment at its meeting on Tuesday October 21.
