Adur and Worthing Councils launches food waste competition

Adur & Worthing Councils is giving away hot composting bins as part of Food Waste Action Week 2024.

Residents are being asked to send in their top tips for reducing food waste at home for a chance to win one of six hot composting bins.

By heating the waste up to 60°C, hot bins can turn food waste into compost in 30 to 90 days. The councils have been given six hot bins (three large and three small) by West Sussex County Council and want to give residents the opportunity to start composting at home.

Windsor House Hotel planning hearing to be held at Worthing Town Hall

A public hearing will be held at Worthing Town Hall in March to decide whether a developer should be allowed to use the Windsor House Hotel for housing.

A planning inspector will consider whether or not SDR Group should have planning permission to use the building in Windsor Road as shared living accommodation with 44 bedrooms divided into 5 self-contained annexes, each with shared kitchen, dining and living spaces.

Councils criticise A27 plans

Plans to improve the A27 and provide an environmental and economic boost to the region do not go far enough due to a lack of investment and lack of ambition to improve alternatives to car journeys, councillors have warned.
The road, which is a mixture of dual and single carriageway, is the only east-to-west trunk road south of the M25 and is hugely important for both businesses and residents.
