Drink and drug drivers arrested in Sussex Police crackdown

Dozens of drivers have been arrested on suspicion of drink or drug-driving as part of Sussex Police’s annual crackdown.
Officers from across the county have been working as part of Op Limit, a nationwide campaign to catch offenders on our roads.

A Worthing man who stole almost £140,000 from his disabled sister has been found guilty at court.

Graeme Brooker, 54, of Vale Avenue in Worthing, had power of attorney over his sister, Cheryl, who had been left physically and mentally impaired following a series of strokes.

The court heard Brooker made direct transfers from his sister’s bank account to his own of up to £20,000 at a time, as well as monthly transfers of £1,050 disguised as payments such as ‘cleaner’, ‘gardener’ and ‘laundry/shopping’.

Sussex Police target and safeguard victims of domestic abuse during the men's football World Cup

Police in Sussex are targeting domestic abuse perpetrators and safeguarding their victims in the build-up to, and during, the men’s football World Cup. Data suggests instances of domestic abuse increase during football tournaments and around the festive season. In response, 49 domestic abuse suspects were arrested in three days of activity on November 15, 16 and 17 – the week before the start of the men’s football World Cup in Qatar.
