High Court backs Council’s protection of Chatsmore Farm from development

Worthing Borough Council has won its court battle to prevent a developer building hundreds of homes on Chatsmore Farm.

Persimmon Homes went to the Court of Appeal to challenge the Council’s refusal to allow it to build 475 properties on the green gap between Worthing and Ferring.

But a panel of three top judges has rejected the developer’s case, meaning the Council’s rejection of the planning application stands.

Worthing committed to protecting its foreshore

New applications are being prepared to help protect two sections of foreshore in Worthing, in a move to improve the quality of the town’s coastal waters.

Worthing Borough Council and its team of citizen scientists are hard at work gathering data for the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra), in a bid to supplement the town’s single designated area of bathing water with two more.

Adur and Worthing residents offered support with water bills

Adur & Worthing Councils is working with Southern Water and the TellJO service to contact 5,000 of the most in-need residents to help them get even more support with the cost of living.

From this week TellJo, a Shoreham-based company, will begin contacting residents in Adur and Worthing who access Council Tax support and Housing Benefit to try to identify those vulnerable to debt and find ways to tackle the root causes of the problem.
